But Jesus remained silent. Then the high priest said to him, “I demand in the name of the living God—tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God.”
Jesus replied, “You have said it. And in the future you will see the Son of Man seated in the place of power at God’s right hand and coming on the clouds of heaven.”
– Matthew 26:63-64
Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back into its place; for all those who take up the sword shall perish by the sword.

In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.
– Luke 22:20 (NIV)
Watch out! Don’t let your hearts be dulled by carousing and drunkenness, and by the worries of this life. Don’t let that day catch you unaware, like a trap. For that day will come upon everyone living on the earth.
– Luke 21:34-35 (NLT)
This week’s focus: Easter
Hope you had a great Palm Sunday. This week will focus on verses from the final week of Jesus’s life.
In Luke 21, after watching the widow offer her mite at the Temple, Jesus gives a final glimpse of the future to his disciples before the Last Supper. He foretells the destruction of Jerusalem and the Jewish diaspora, and says some words about the end times.
He concludes by telling us the signs of the times are like the signs of the seasons. When the trees sprout leaves, summer is near. Finally he offers the warning in verses 34-35.
This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.
– 2 Corinthians 9:12 (NIV)
Our tithes and offerings are a service, too. Another way to serve the Lord.
